Museum Island is an island in the River Spree in Berlin, Germany, located in the Mitte borough. It is home to five internationally renowned museums, and was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999. History

The island was first developed in the early 19th century, when the Prussian royal family commissioned the construction of the Altes Museum, which opened in 1830. The island was expanded over the following decades, with the opening of the Neues Museum in 1855, the Alte Nationalgalerie in 1876, the Bode Museum in 1904, and the Pergamon Museum in 1930.
