Monte Alban is a renowned archaeological site located in the Oaxaca Valley, Mexico. It is one of the most important archaeological sites in Mexico and has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987. Monte Alban was an ancient city inhabited by the Zapotec civilization and was a political, religious and commercial center of the region.
Opening Hours
Monte Alban is open to visitors every day of the year, except for December 25th and January 1st. The opening hours are as follows:
Weekdays
- Monday – Sunday: 8:00am to 5:00pm
Weekends
- Saturday – Sunday: 9:00am to 5:00pm
Extended Hours
- March and April: 9:00am to 6:00pm
- June and July: 8:00am to 6:00pm
- August and September: 9:00am to 6:00pm
Monte Alban offers guided tours that can be booked in advance. The cost of the tour is included in the entrance fee.
It is recommended to wear comfortable clothes and shoes when visiting Monte Alban, as the terrain is steep and uneven. Visitors should also bring a hat, sunscreen and a bottle of water.
