Parking Made Easy at the Bronx Zoo – Find Out How!

When visiting the Bronx Zoo, one of the largest metropolitan zoos in the United States, it is important to know where to park. The zoo offers a variety of parking options to accommodate visitors, including on-site parking, off-site parking, and public transportation. Here’s everything you need to know about parking at the Bronx Zoo.

On-site Parking

The Bronx Zoo offers two on-site parking lots, located at the Southern Boulevard entrance and the Bronx River entrance. Both lots offer ample parking and are easily accessible from the zoo. The Southern Boulevard lot is the larger of the two, with more than 1,000 parking spaces. Both lots are open from 8:00am to 5:00pm daily, with the last entry at 4:30pm. The cost to park is $15 per car.

Off-site Parking

If the on-site lots are full, visitors can take advantage of off-site parking options. There are several nearby parking garages and lots that offer discounted rates for zoo visitors. The Bronx Zoo has partnered with Icon Parking Systems to offer discounted rates at the following locations:

  • 2475 Grand Concourse
  • 2445 Grand Concourse
  • 717 East 181st Street
  • 811 East 180th Street
  • 741 East 183rd Street

To take advantage of the discounted rates, visitors must present their parking ticket to the Bronx Zoo ticket booth for validation. The discounted rate is $9 per car.

Public Transportation

The Bronx Zoo is easily accessible by public transportation. The 2 and 5 subway lines stop at the Bronx Park East station, which is a short walk from the zoo. The Bx9 and Bx19 buses also stop at the zoo. Additionally, the MTA’s Metro-North commuter rail line has two stations, the Bronx Zoo and Woodlawn, both of which are a short walk from the zoo.

Tips for Visiting the Bronx Zoo

  • Plan ahead: Be sure to allow enough time to find parking and purchase tickets before entering the zoo.
  • Take advantage of discounts: Look for discounted parking and ticket prices to save money.
  • Use public transportation: Taking public transportation is an easy and affordable way to get to the Bronx Zoo.
