Brooklyn Bridge Band is an American rock and soul band from Brooklyn, New York, formed in 1967. The band is best known for their hits “Worst That Could Happen” and “Welcome Me Love”, which both reached the Top 10 of the US Billboard Hot 100. The band is also remembered for their hit single “Blessed Is the Rain”, which was featured in the soundtrack of the popular movie Grease.
History
The band was formed in 1967 by Johnny Maestro and Jimmy Rosica, two friends from Brooklyn who had been playing music together since the early 1960s. Maestro was the lead singer and Rosica the lead guitarist. They were soon joined by Joe Galdo on drums, Sal Cracchiolo on bass, and Freddy Stann on keyboards. The band’s first album, Brooklyn Bridge, was released in 1968 and included their hit single “Worst That Could Happen”.
Success and Later Years
The band’s success continued in the 1970s with the release of their second album, Welcome Me Love, which reached the Top 10 of the US Billboard Hot 100. The band also released the single “Blessed Is the Rain”, which was featured in the popular movie Grease. The band released several other albums throughout the 1970s, including Brooklyn Bridge Live and The Best of Brooklyn Bridge.
Recent Years
