The 9/11 Memorial & Museum 5K Run/Walk is an annual event held in New York City in remembrance of the tragic events of September 11th, 2001. This year, the event is taking place on Sunday, September 11th, and will be the twelfth annual 5K. The event is open to all runners, walkers, and volunteers, and is designed to honor the lives lost, and to recognize the courage and strength of those affected by the tragedy.

Beneficiaries

All proceeds from the event go directly to the 9/11 Memorial & Museum. The Memorial & Museum serves as a reminder of the tragedy, and provides a place for reflection and education. The funds raised from the 5K help to ensure the Memorial & Museum can continue to provide the public with the necessary resources to remember and honor those who lost their lives.

Course

The course is a 5K, or 3.1-mile, loop around the 9/11 Memorial & Museum. Participants will start and finish at the Memorial Plaza. The course is relatively flat and provides stunning views of the Memorial, as well as the city skyline. Along the route, runners will pass by landmarks such as the World Trade Center, the Freedom Tower, and the Oculus.

Registration

Registration for the event is open now and closes on August 1st. Participants can register as individuals or as teams. There is also an option to register as a virtual participant if you are unable to attend the event in person. All participants will receive a t-shirt and a medal upon completion of the 5K.

Awards

Awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers, as well as the top three teams. Awards will also be given to the top fundraisers, and the top finishers in various age categories.

Fundraising

In addition to the registration fee, participants are encouraged to fundraise for the Memorial & Museum. All participants will have access to a personalized fundraising page, where they can share their story and ask for donations. All donations are tax-deductible, and the top fundraisers will be recognized with special awards.

Volunteering

The 9/11 Memorial & Museum 5K Run/Walk is always looking for volunteers to help make the event a success. Volunteers will help with registration, course marshalling, and other tasks. All volunteers will receive a t-shirt and a certificate of appreciation.
