Basilica Cistern is one of the most iconic attractions in Istanbul, Turkey. Built in the 6th century, the underground cistern was used to provide the city with fresh water. It is the largest of the several hundred ancient cisterns that lie beneath the city of Istanbul and is open to the public for visits.
Opening Hours
The Basilica Cistern is open daily, except Mondays, from 9:00 am to 6:30 pm. On Sundays and public holidays, the opening hours are 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
