Castlefield Art Gallery Manchester is an independent, non-profit art gallery located in Manchester, England. The gallery was founded in 2009 and is dedicated to showcasing contemporary art from the North West of England and beyond. The gallery is also home to an exciting programme of exhibitions, events and workshops, as well as an artist-in-residence scheme.

Exhibitions and Events

The gallery hosts a variety of exhibitions throughout the year, ranging from solo shows to group exhibitions. These exhibitions focus on a variety of media including painting, photography, sculpture, installation and video art. Events held at the gallery include artist talks, film screenings, live music performances and workshops.

Artist-in-Residence Scheme

The gallery runs an artist-in-residence scheme, which provides emerging and established artists with the opportunity to develop their practice in a professional gallery setting. The residency lasts for one month and includes a solo exhibition at the end of the period. Artists also benefit from mentoring from the gallery’s team and have access to its facilities and resources.

Visiting the Gallery

The gallery is open Tuesday to Saturday from 11am to 5pm. Entry is free and the gallery welcomes visitors of all ages. There is also a café onsite serving a selection of hot and cold drinks and snacks.

Getting There

The gallery is located in the heart of Manchester’s Castlefield area, just a few minutes’ walk from Manchester Piccadilly train station. The nearest bus stop is Deansgate, which is served by the following bus routes: 25, 42, 43, 44, 111, 113, 141, 142, 143, 144 and 151.

The gallery does not have its own car park but there are a number of public car parks nearby. These include:

Accessibility

The gallery is wheelchair accessible and has disabled toilet facilities. Assistance dogs are also welcome.
